Project Description
It was a pleasure to create a tribute to some of my favourite musicians in the MM in October 1967. It was part of a series that included the Magnificent Seven Guitarists. No prizes for guessing who the plucky strings men were, all pinned up on their wanted posters.
The drummers were equally important in shaping the sound and music of the bands they graced. Sadly, we lost three of them over the years. Keith Moon died in 1978, Mitch Mitchell and Brian Davison both passed away in 2008. Mitch had reappeared after long retirement, with a Hendrix tribute group in the days before his death and Brian had performed with a reunited Nice in 2002. Happily, Jon, Brian, Bobby and even Ginger are all still playing with undiminished, magnificent passion.
