It was a hot and wild night at the Beaverwood Club, Chislehurst, when American guitar hero Ryan McGarvey flew into town and into action. Backed by a powerful rhythm section, the charismatic performer sang and played a selection of songs from his album ‘The Road Chosen’. He simultaneously entranced, and partially deafened a crowd of his most loyal British fans, who clapped and cheered every stomping, blues drenched number . This pleased the polite, charming and supremely confident performer, who first came to fame performing at one of Eric Clapton’s Cross Roads festivals. He has since played along the likes of Eric, Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa and the late BB King, who must all have been alarmed by Ryan’s towering technique and blistering attack. I’ve never seen guitar strings undergo quite such physical punishment in the pursuit of rock blues power. His drummer Logan Miles was featured in a superb solo too, topping a great set.
